Marc, Im an only child (all grown up now) who was picked on and bullied when I was a kid. I learned to become very defensive when meeting new kids and found it easier to withdraw to my room just to be by myself. Hearing that these things are happening to your daughter makes me sad. I truly hope this works out for the best for your family.
