The reason they load you on the plane and then fix whatever is wrong, or keep you waiting forever is because…
The on time departure is not measured by actual take-off from the airport, it counts as an on-time departure as soon as the doors to the loading ramp are closed.
That’s also why they wont let you on after that door closes.
All the airlines count their plane as an on time departure as soon as that door in the terminal closes. No matter how long you end up suffering on the runway.
